If you change your perspective you can change your world. That’s why I built this website, to challenge my own perspective and share it with you. I believe in myself. You must believe in you, but most of all I believe in self-mastery.
Growing up I was never the smartest but as I got older I realized it didn’t matter, the only thing that mattered is work, hard freaking work. That’s what it’s going to take to challenge your perspective, it’s not easy, but it is worth it.
You need a new level of thinking for the problems in your life, because your current problems were created by the thinking you’re using now.
Challenging your thinking is like walking in a strong current, you’re going to get pulled in a lot of different ways, it’s up to you not to fight it. Success is not a straight line but it is defined by you and only you. I believe that you can challenge your perspective to step into mastery.
I challenged mine by changing my thoughts and reinforcing them with action.
I wake up everyday at 3:00 AM, that’s when my alarm is set at least, but I always wake up before my alarm. I’m up at 2:55 AM, 2:45 AM, because my body says, “Let’s go!”
Yes, I go to bed early, before 8:00 PM. I’m not missing much, I know because for years I’ve stayed up till about MIDNIGHT or 2:00 AM.
I’m not an anomaly, anyone can do this, I just made a decision. But it started long ago with a though, everything begins with a thought, even you.
Perspective has to be coupled with action, otherwise it’s just a theory, actions solidify our belief in a perspective.
I wanted a different life and for me it started by dominating my mornings and my nights. This life is a marathon and in marathons you’re going to run alone, but you’ll meet people along the way! That’s the point, if you stay at the starting line, you’re never going to make any progress. I believe in thoughts but without execution, they’re just thoughts. It’s our action that transfers the energy into reality.
It’s not how hard you hit, it’s how hard you can get hit and keep going. Rocky Balboa
It’s easier said than done, it has to start with a catalyst. I’m willing to bet the only reason you haven’t acted is because you don’t have that catalyst.
Dissatisfaction isn’t enough by itself, it needs to be coupled with power, and the hope of a better future. I was dissatisfied with the world around me, years ago I began defining things for myself, in my own way.
There are two reasons to do this, you get to experience the world again, and you were given much of the knowledge you have by people around you. I don’t have anything against them, just against outdated information, the majority of people are running on either outdated information or raw data. Raw data is information that’s so new we haven’t been able to fully understand, like a new diet. You don’t know what it will do thirty years from now so you can’t know the outcome, why act on raw data when the information you want is out there.
Defining the world in your own way allows you to challenge it in your own way.
Perspective isn’t the only key to mastery, it’s just the one that I’m using, changing how you see things has extremely profound effects we don’t discuss enough. Optimism is a skill everyone should build, because optimism is courage, it is not naivety, this is a misunderstanding of optimism by pessimists who claim to be realists.
Being a realist means you understand practicality and there is huge practicality in action, through action you overcome obstacles otherwise thought to be a reality.
Optimism to me means possibilities, options, and that’s what mastery is, options.
Like writing this blog, for the longest time I put it off because I struggled with my optimism here, no one is exempt from the demon of self-doubt that resides in us all. That’s why my focus is mastery, it’s not a goal you reach but instead a journey, because a master’s work is never finished.
What do you want to achieve mastery in your life? Mastery takes 10,000 hours of practice.
